Sushmita Sen when she was just 18 year she won the title of Femina Miss India in year 1994 beating out Aishwarya Rai who was the runner up. Sushmita Sen represented India at the Miss Universe Pageant.
after her title of Miss Universe was over she decided to became an actress in Bollywood film industry, her debut Hindi film was Dastak in 1996, that was not success in box office, she won Film fare Best Supporting Actress Award in 1999 from the movie Biwi No. 1, the film was very successful in Hindi Cinema. in the same year she was also nominated in Sirf Tum in the same category.
Sushmita biggest hit film was Main Hoon Na in 2004 which she starred with Shahrukh Khan.

Her subsequent movies like Dastak in 1996, where she played the victim of a stalker, too didn't do well at the cinema. But her appearance as Rupali in David Dhawan's movie Biwi No.1 won her the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award in 1999.

So far, her biggest hit has been the movie Main Hoon Na, in which she starred as Shah Rukh Khan's love interest. SHe continues to do modelling even now.
